Irish Lace

We will be in Ireland for several days & a friend wants me to buy her a doily or dresser scarf under$50-any ideas?

I have lots of suggestions but the most important thing to know from you is: Where will you be?

We were in Kenmare a couple of years ago and at that time they had a studio where the artisans made hand made lace.
I bought myself a very small doily and it was about $70. I suppose it is about 7 x 7 inches square. It is lovely.

IrishEyes:We will be on a tour starting in Dublin & going around both Northern Ireland & Ireland. So I imagine at least one of the places you can recommend will work.

Blarney Woolen Mills and Quills are good. There is also a Quills in Kenmare. If you want something extra special or antique:

Memories Lace & Linen: Killarney
The Linen Chest: Dingle
Nostalgia Linen & Lace: Kenmare

Any of the large department stores in Dublin will stock it - try Brown Thomas on Grafton Street. Otherwise, on Nassau Street try the Kilkenny Design Centre.

Avoid The Linen Chest on Dingle. We were interested in a specific table cloth which was not in stock . They placed a call to their other location in another city. We paid with a credit card and were assured the linens would be mailed to us in the United States. After we had not received the linens in almost 3 months we contacted the credit card company. The linen shop claims we returned another day and picked up them up. How could this be possible? We were only in Dingle one day and were on a guided tour. The shop manager knew this. So avoid this store.
