Best boat tour around Capri.

We are looking to take a boat trip around Capri. We've looked at the suggested companies on Capri.net and we were wondering if anyone has tried any of these? Laser Capri is cheap, but we were hoping to go in a smaller boat. Capri Relax looks good but they don't list prices... I am waiting to hear back via e-mail.

Also, has anyone been on a "Capri by Moonlight" tour? Is a boat tour something we should reserve ahead of time or should we just try out luck down at the docks? Thanks in advance... once again...

We caught the ferry over and there was many locals (many retired fisherman or fisherman getting extra income) waiting on the pier. No big hassle and a great way to do it. Just settle on a price and he rows out and gets his little boat.
My only recommendation would be to not book him to cirle the whole island. Make a deal for him to take you as far as the Blue Grottos which is at least half way and youll have seen enough by then.
At the grottos other even smaller boats are all waiting there to transfer people in for the 10 minute in/out at the grottos... there is steps from the grottos up the side of the hill where there is a bus stop immediately at the top. Stand there and the bus comes frequently straight back into the main town. - we loved it.
Dont forget the chairlift also when your in the town...
And sorry but cant remember what we paid "Gerry" to take us in his boat..

I was in Capri last summer and although we didn't take a boat tour (we thought it would be more fun on jet skis!) I can assure you that your hotel will happily make the reservation for you upon arrival, or, just as you suggested, you can buy the tickets at the docks. No need to book in advance. Enjoy.

From the Pupetto Hotel in Positano they got us this guy in what they called a rubber boat. There were 4 of us girls last year and he took us to Capri in the morning and picked us up at 2:30 then he proceded to take us all around Capri and showing us other grottos and this little cove with a church then when he headed back we went along the mainland coast and he showed us some really neat places. All for 50 euros each. So yes it was 200 euros total but we would have paid that much just to go from Positano to Capri on the Hydrofoil.

Oh did I mention this guy was Roberto and what a doll !!!!!! He also recommended some really neat restaurant for that night and called ahead for us so they could pick us up and take us back up to the restaurant.

The price for a private boat tour around capri coast is 130 €.
The fishermen at the pier usually don't put mattresses on your seats.A little bit uncomfortable.
