Driving the NorthWest Highlands

We will be taking a 10 day driving tour of the Highlands. I have found the drive times for most of the area. I also know the mileage. Do you know the drive times from Isle of Skye to Torridon, Torridon to Ullapool, Ullapool to Golspie? We will be traveling the single roads. Is this area worth the visit?
Thank you for the help. Any other suggestions welcomed. Wendy

"I have found the drive times for most of the area." Where have you found your drive times? if it is from on-line mapping sites - take them w/ a grain of salt. Things will generally take longer than the sites tell you.

From Skye - do you mean from the bridge leaving Skye or from somewhere on Skye? Makes a big difference.

anyway from the bridge to Torridon is about 45 miles and you can count on about an 1.25 hours plus stops for all the magnificent photo ops along the way.

torridon to ullapool is about 90 miles and about 2.5 hours straight driving. BUT - enroute are Loch Maree, Inverewe Gardens, Loch Ewe, Loch Broom, and Measach Falls so I'd give it the most part of a full day.

Same for Ullapool to Golspie. Only about 65 miles but at least 2 hours since there is a lot of single tracking plus it is a gorgeous route w/ tons of places to stop and gawk.

Meant to add -- Inverewe Gardens takes at least 2 hours.

Thank you so much! That really helps!
We are now thinking about taking a day away from Inverness to drive the Tongue area. Do you think that area is worth the drive?
Thank you so much Wendy

That whole northern coast is great but whether you should add it to your itinerary depends on how long you have and where else you are going.

Inverness itself is nothing to write home about -- but the surrounding area has a ton of things to see/do.

If you have left enough time in Inverness to visit Culloden, Clava Cairns, Fort George, Cawdor and/or Brodie castles, and maybe the Black Isle and Urquhart Castle then I'd definitely consider taking the long route up and around the far north. If you have enopugh time you could even squeeze in a day trip to the Orkneys by ferry.
