Kauai cigarette prices

I am leaving for Kauai on Wednesday, July 20th and getting married on the 23rd. With all the pre-wedding stress, I have started smoking again. I want to stop again when we return home but I am not going to try on my honeymoon.

So, to get to the point, how expensive are cigarettes in Kauai? I assume they must be expensive. I just wanted to check before I start packing so I can stock up before I leave. In Houston, a pack of Marlboros costs about $3.00-$3.15. What are the prices like in Kauai?

WOW! You must really be stressed to be worried about the price of a pack in Kauai vs at home.

For argument, let's say is's $5 a pack, you smoke a pack a day, 10 day trip. Total difference $20. I have to believe this whole wedding and honeymoon is costing more than that, so what's $20 either way?

With all the stuff to worry about, either decide to pack a carton in you carryon (in case your checked bags get delayed) or decide to buy a carton once you get there.

I think this forum might offer suggestions on ways to relas in Hawaii, lessening the need anyway.

Of all the things you would ask about Kauai, you ask about the price of cigs? Wow.

You certainly won't stop smoking after your honeymoon. Get Real! After your first newlywed fight you will start smoking again. And I'm sure you do not appreciate my advice one bit.

First of all, I have been reading info on this forum about Kauai for about a year, so I don't have any typical questions because I understand how the search feature works. I have the Kauai Revealed book and all that.

When I was in New York last year, the cigarette prices were $8-9 a pack which is considerably more than the $3 I pay at home. Just because I am going to Hawaii doesn't mean I want to throw away my money.

Jorr- Thanks for the kind words (detect sarcasm?). You have always been such an asset to this forum. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't post.

You didn't ask for this but here goes anyway........

All restaurants on Kauai are non-smoking....thank goodness.......you are not going to be able to smoke on the plane........thank goodness.......so just go ahead and give it up now! Enjoy your honeymoon cigarette free......you will smell better for it!

..........time to dawgpile on.......and if you DO smoke outside, please remember that the beach is not a GIANT ashtray.

I think it takes about 1 million years for the filter tips to disintergrate so please dispose of properly.

And this is coming from a Kauai cigar smoker.

You should be more worried about BEER prices on Kauai! #39;(

Okay, everyone...

Please understand that I am a very polite, courteous smoker. I do not litter or try to smoke in non-smoking areas. I will not put out my cigarettes in the sand at the beaches. I understand that bashing smokers is very common these days, but I was really just asking for a price.

Thank you,
Jennifer

I don't have an actual price for you but seeing that everything is more expensive in Hawaii, you are probaly best off bringing a few packs. You could always buy more if needed.

To help pay for you Kauai trip, you could start a nice little side business of buying cigs in Texas and selling them in NY!

$5.49 a pack at the ABC Stores.

Having said that, you'll be on your honeymoon. Are you sure you want your husband to be licking an ashtray every time he kisses you?

I'm with Kal and worried about BEER prices going up before my next trip.

162 and counting!!!

jenn,
Whatever you do, don't smoke AND talk on your cell phone while out on the beach.

All we need now is for you to travel with a small child...oooops...not on a honeymoon!
I'm glad cig smoking is about the ONLY vice I don't have. O
B'man, I rather be sipping a $4.50 beer on Kauai than a $1.00 beer right here!

Wow, you'd think she asked what the price of crack cocaine was.

Mercedes - I'd bring them with you. Not only will it be cheaper but it will also be more convenient. I think you will likely find, however, that you smoke less in Hawaii than at home for a number of reasons.

Thank you for the replies.

Weimer- Thanks for the advice.

Budman- Thank you so much for providing a price. My fiance smokes so that won't be a problem.

Kal- I'm not even taking my cell phone lol. As far as beer prices go, my fiance is a homebrewer and bonafide beer snob so we always pay high prices for beer.

Thanks,
Jennifer

I agree with Weimer and Tom! You're probably better off just bringing them from home. Chances are they're going to be more expensive on Kauai. I'm with you!!....the stress from the wedding is enough to drive anyone to smoke!!!! But I can't think of a better place than Kauai to go and "de-stress!!"

Jennifer......I was also a polite, courteous smoker.....yeah, right...at least I thought so until I gave it up. Hell, take 2 or 3 cartons with you and Budman and Kal.......y'all make me sick whether you smoke or not...Kauai in 162 more days....you both repulse me....looks like you would have finished your Kauai research by now.......Slow learners, you are....

I wouldn't be such a slow learner if it didn't rain all the time and I didn't have to spend most of my time battin' away Bald Eagle sized mosquitos while being distracted by crowing roosters!
~gt;

I heard it's easier to to beat a crack coke habit than ciggies.
I'm thankful/lucky I'm not into either.

I think i2 needs a smoke!

Let's see...
Cigarettes were the hardest to quit, followed by pot, cocaine was a close third, then the prescription pills, then the booze...

Did I mention somewhere that I leave in EIGHT DAYS?

You know what Billy Boy? I meant to include you along with Budman and Kal. Cept, you make me even sicker cause you got a shorter time!!!

And, you know what else...maybe, just maybe, I gave that lecture on cigs cause, maybe, just maybe, I would like a big old fat smoke!!!

My personality is such that if I took one puff I would be back to asking how much cigs were on Kauai and buying boot-legged ones at the Indian reservation before heading out!

I'm a pisces so that should explain my personality disorders and obsessions!!

Ok,,,I'm over it....smoke yourself silly and have fun! Don't forget to take time to see the s since you won't be able to smell the flowers....hahahahahahahahahahahaha
