Trains from London to Cotswolds

Trying to determine cost of the train(whichever railway company it is)from Paddington station in London to the Cotswolds, specifically the station at Moreton-in-Marsh...roundtrip for two purchased now, three months early. Thanks from anyone who can decipher what it is.

You might also consider coach (bus to us Americans) service as well. We found it to be cheaper than train and just as timely and comfortable. Catch the coaches at Victoria Coach Station (not the same as Victori Train Station but in same area of city).

Don't have link handy but you should be able to Google it and find it. Went via Oxford.

Have fun

To travel from Paddington to Morton-in-Marsh I had to change at Oxford. Morton is very small and there was no need for transportation to where I was staying. We use the trains a lot in the UK and I purchase a Rail Pass before we leave the states. It is cheaper and you cannot buy them in the UK. In two weeks we will be taking the train to Bath, picking up a car at the train station and driving to Stanton which is about 11 miles from Morton. We rent self catering cottages when we travel and have found that the best way to go. Regarding train fare, the last I looked the roundtrip fare between Paddington and Bath was either 120 GBP or 90GBP. We also use the pass for the Heathrow and Gatwick expresses. This avoids waiting on line to purchase before boarding the train. A train conductor told us one year that getting the rail pass in the US was the cheapest way to go.

Getting a bus from London to Moreton is dozy - and virtually impossible. Of the 15 or so trains a day, only one (or at weekends 2) requires a change at Oxford.

It beggars belief why the previous respondent is confusing you by wittering on about trains to Bath.

If all you want to do is go to Moreton, and then back to London, there's little point in any faffing about with advance purchase or any other complication. The walk-up return fare, applicable on all trains from London on and after 0915 and available from all the machines at Paddington up to 2 minutes before departure is £27 each.

Arrive 15 mins before departure armed with a credit or debit card, buy your ticket and then get train.

That's it. If you're short of things to do with your time, hang round the First Great Western website to see if they're offering a deal. You might just save 50p. But I doubt it.
