Nice, on the beach place to stay on St. Kitts

Myself & 2 girlfriends are planning to go to St. Kitts the first week of March. We have not determined where to stay yet. We prefer to stay at a place right on the beach. I'm trying to steer away from the large chain hotel (Marriott), but the reviews I have read on the other "beach front" hotels have not been consistent enough for me to make a decision. Price range we are trying to stay within is about $150-$190/night/person.

If anyone has been there recently and could make a solid recommendation that would be great.

We are all in our mid 30's & also want to know what type of nightlife is on St. Kitts, not that it has to be anything similar to say Cancun, but just wondering if there is a nightlife on St. Kitts.

Timothy Beach Resort is a condo hotel and the only resort directly on the calm Caribbean beach. The beach is in the best shape ever and the price is in your budget. www.timothybeachresort.com
St Kitts is not noted for it's night life but you will not be disappointed.

Are most of the beaches on St. Kitts good beaches? Meaning, are they white? I've read in a couple different places that they have "black" beaches because of the volcanos. Just wondering if there are multiple white sand beaches. Thanks.

True, St. Kitts is a volcanic island so that means you will find some dark sand beaches (mostly on the north end of the island). Others on the island have a golden brownish tone to them. Also, there are a few "light sand" beaches on the southern pennisula but if you are seeking an abundance of sparkling "white sand" you really need to visit one of the coral based islands like Anguilla, Anegada, Barbuda, Provo, Aruba or some of the Bahamas Out-islands.

The Marriott in St. Kitts is by far the nicest place to stay. Be sure to get an ocean view. The beach has nice cabanas and the view is unmatched. The water on that side of the island is rough, but the hotel built a small barrier reef, so there is a calm area in front of the hotel. The hotel is relatively new and the service is slow, but you need to go into it open minded. Life on the islands is slow. The island is not developed at all and I think you'll be challenged to find an abundance of interesting nightlife. There are a couple of places - Stonewalls and another waterfront place that seemed busy. This island is not developed and not "touristy." If you're looking for nightlife, I would recommend another island. If you're looking for an island with natural beauty and friendly people, pick St. Kitts.

I would also recommend another Island
for night Life and beaches . But if you go I agree that the Marriott would be the best place. St Kitts has some excellent restaurants! We stayed at Timothy Beach Resort because we wanted to be right on the beach. We were very dissappointed. There are no ammenities no lobby, and well BELOW your budget!
In my opinion It's not really a hotel.
Good luck with your search.

Re:Timothy Beach Resort
Depends on your expectations. It is not the Marriott but on the other hand its prices are not Marriott prices. It is a small clean family run hotel with a friendly casual atmophere not a big chain resort. The pool area is pleasant. The staff are nice and helpful. The restaurant is good and the beach (with some decent snorkeling) is right next to it. However if you need a full service resort with a marble lobby, shops and lots of restaurants and activities, you won't like it.

Thanks for all your input. Sounds like we are going to switch gears and possibly head towards Antigua.
