What other airports are close to Sanibel, FL? I know that Fort Myers is really close, but what other options are there? I would prefer an airport that is less than 2 hours away from Sanibel Island, if possible.

Actually Fort Meyers is the closest to Sanibel and I believe that Sarasota would be the next closest but that would probably be about 1 1/2 hrs away.

We flew into Fort Meyers when we stayed at Casa Ybel on Sanibel.

Don't ignore Ft. Lauderdale Airport which has a lot more service than Sarasota. It is about 35 miles futher and may take up to 30 minutes longer that getting from Sanibel to Sarasota airport, maybe 2 1/2 instead of 2 hours.

And don't overlook Tampa. Southwest Airlines serves both Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale and you will often save a great deal using either instead of Ft. Myers
