Living Large in St. Kitts

You all seem quite knowledgable, so...

My boyfriend and I are looking for an island getaway. The type of place you can go to a secluded beach and do nothing. Unless you want food or drink, and then you raise a flag and someone comes to you. No phones, no internet, just sun and relaxation. Maybe some hiking or snorkeling for good measure.

He heard of a place he thought was called "Little St. Kitts". Rooms/cabanas w/o walls, just sheer drapes. Any ideas or other thoughts? I'm thinking late March early April...

Thanks!
Susan

Hmmm. I don't think he got the name right.

It sounds like you are talking about Petit St Vincent (PSV) or Palm Island or maybe Little Dix.

There is nothing remotely like what you are describing on St Kitts, but the resorts above ARE somewhat to very much (it varies among them) like that.

It is definitely Petite St Vincent resort that has the flag deal where anything you want will be brought to you if you raise the flag. They have different colors for do not disturb etc. They also have a web site. Just type in Petite St Vincent Resort and you will get the link.

If you should choose that resort, you will be VERY happy - guaranteed.

Have fun!

Diana, have you visited PSV yourself? It's one of the places I considered last year for a honeymoon, but alas its price was beyond our reach at the time. I hope to be able to visit in the future. THe idea of the flags sounds so decadent. I first read about PSV about four years ago and ever since I've had a major hankering to stay there. Maybe one day my husband and I will get som real time off instead of one week here, one week there, and we'll do PSV and some other Grenadines. Until then, I just dream!

Yes, we have stayed at PSV, but it has been so long ago that I don't normally give input on it.

I try not to give resort info on places I haven't been to in the last 3 or 4 years because places can change so much.

(Not to say I never do, just not usually.)

In our case, it was a wonderful vacation, but we really enjoy eating out and trying different places, and we were just a little too restricted there with choices of things to do, see and eat.

Diana, I know what you mean about getting out and seeing/tasting/experiencing more of the local culture. I think an ideal trip for me would be splitting time at PSV to get that elusive sense of privacy and castaway feeling and spending some time exploring Canouan and Mayreau, maybe Mustique, too. Aside from various catamaran trips, I've never done any real sailing but the thought of sailing the Grenadines is so intriguing to me. Alas, so many islands and so little vacation time. Oh, to have the time and budget to travel everywhere!
