Uzes accommodation

Has anyone had experience of accommodation in Uzes at either a studio at Maison de la Bourgad or the apartment La Residence? We are a retired Australian couple seeking accommodation for nine weeks next year in this town. We'd like to be comfortable but not too expensive!! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Topping in the hopes that someone can help Adelaide.

Adelaide, we have stayed in Uzès a couple of times but the place we rented is no longer on the market. I hope you do find a suitable rental because it is a marvelous town in a lovely region.

Hi Adelaide, I can't help you with a rental, but we stayed at the
Hotel du General Entraigues. It is situated across from the Cathedral, a short stroll to the wonderful Saturday market at the Place des Herbs. Uzes is one of my favorite places.
As Andre Gide's father wrote: O little town of Uzes, were you in Umbria, Parisians would flock to visit you.

My husband and daughter and her husband stayed at Esprit du Sud at the end of September. We rented both of the apartments, but they can be rented separately. We found them very nice and close to the central square. The stairs to the upstairs apartment are difficult to navigate unless one has good balance and is in good shape. Parking is not a big problem, and Uzes itself is a wonderful medieval town with lots of good restaurants and two weekly markets. You can reach the owner at www.espritdusudfrance.com

Hi Adelaide; In the summer, you should have AC. Anyways, try this for Uzes, a lovely town. vrbo.com/179200 In addition, there are many more accommodations on this site. ENJOY Iris

I second cigalechanta's recommendation. Love the hotel and the town! If you do stay at the Hotel du General, I would not recommend the restaurant, however. For breakfast, yes, but not for dinner.

We like the 4 seasons salon and the Bistro Greac.

Friends stayed at the Maison de al Bourgade and liked the studios but that was for just 1 week.

Nine weeks? You'll want more space.

We were in Uzes, yet again, one month ago. We were at a B&B, Au Quinze -- not suitable for you for 9 weeks.

Previously, we stayed at the Loft St Julien. Expensive but BEYOND fabulous. Imagine the smartest and most opulent Manhattan loft -- 3000 sq. feet. It now goes for about 1200E a week.

BTW: IF you are there for 9 weeks, why stay in only 1 place? You could do 3 weeks (or less) in Uzes and some weeks in nearby towns....

Sorry, we've been off the air for a while. Merci for those suggestions. Yes were looking for an apartment and have now secured one owned by an Australian which makes contact and payment in Australian dollars easier for us. We'd like to stay in one place for nine weeks so that we can immerse ourselves in French life, establish rapport with the local shopkeepers etc. We'll be in France for five months and certainly will be staying in other areas. For us Uzes has the atmosphere, is the right size, has the right climate and I'm sure we'll love it.

This is a long time after the posts began - but Adelaide - could you please tell me what accommodation you used in Uzes? I have been searching for ages to find something, preferably with an outdoor area, as we want somewhere fro 4 weeks for 2 people. I do hope I hear from you!
