Paris Hotels Right Bank Thread
Since two questions that are so often asked in the Paris-related forum are related to hotel choices and apartment rentals, I think a thread is needed to address the topic.
The apartment thread has already been started and has worked out quite well. So, I think we need a hotel thread, one for the LEFT Bank and one for the RIGHT Bank. I will try to top both threads to keep them current.
So, make your lists of hotels that you like and PLEASE post with complete information, along with a short description. Happy Travels!

OK, I'll start. As I mentioned on my, "Paris Hotels Left Bank Thread", I've stayed at a lot of hotels, around Paris, and almost annually since the mid 70s. However, I've only stayed on the Right Bank a few times and it was decades ago. I'm a Left Bank person. So, if you're interested in a Left Bank recommendation, you can pull up my other thread. I've stayed at two 3* hotels in the 9th arrondisement. Both are pleasant and convenient, and if you get a good deal they are good choices.

For something totally new and different on the Right Bank at a completely reasonable rate, you might want to check out the Mama Shelter (www.mamashelter.com)which opened last month. Each room reputedly is a studio with kitchenette, boasts luxurious bedding and contains an iMac.

Thanks Travelnut...It's good you're high tech. I'm very low tech. Smiles. I have no clue as to how to do that function. I just got a Mac 3 months ago, and haven't figured out these computer functions yet. Great, now the threads can stay together and make it easier on folks. Happy Travels!

Our first trips to Paris were at hotels on the Right bank, both in the 1st Arrondissement near the Chatelet metro station. Over the years I'd checked these out and they've remained good hotels that get good reviews from travelers. I believe you can find both of them on my favorite hotel website, Parisby.com.

More recently we've stayed twice in the Marais area near the Hotel de Ville at two other hotels I found on the Parisby.com website:
Villa Mazarin
Nice rooms but no real public rooms and breakfast only in your room, no breakfast room.
Hotel Duo
Great public rooms and even a small fitness room. Since we stayed there, I believe their guest rooms have been remodeled and prices raised, but some rooms are very small.

On the Right Bank we like the Hotel Mansart, just off the Place Vendôme and sharing a wall with the Ritz. It's a very European small hotel with antique furnishings and is on a street with an ATM, a pharmacy, and a post office. There are any number of restaurants nearby, including Le Soufflé and L'Ardoise and the fine café Le Pain Quotidien.
The hotel is very popular; so reservations well in advance are advised. One year in advance would be a good idea for September/
October, as the hotel gets clients returning for the various shows.
Front-desk staff are very helpful.

Our first trip to Paris 3 years ago (not counting the one made with my parents in 1961) we stayed at the Hotel Brighton in the 1er on Rue de Rivoli. It was wonderful - great location, beautiful views from our balcony of the Tuileries, the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, etc, and the price was very reasonable. The website for the hotel is:

In 2000, we stayed at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie

We loved the location, and thought the street was fun. There were some cool shops and a bit of lively but not wild gay nightlife. It was fun for us and we are a straight couple.
Our room was a category above the standard double, and there was enough room, though it was a bit tight around the bed. We looked on to a courtyard/shaft type area, and there was some noise from a building in the back where there was some sort of garage. This was only in the day.
Service was fine, and one thing I remember is a wonderful lady in the breakfast room who saw us drag in after an overnight flight, and bid us sit down while she served us breakfast. There was no extra charge, which I thought was a terrific gesture. Can't promise it will happen to you, but it was so nice.

My favorite area is the Marais, so I've stayed at numerous Right Bank hotels in the 3rd and 4th over the years, all of which were great for what I wanted at the time: the St Merry, the Castex, the Axial Beaubourg (now the Duo), the Hotel de Nice, and the Hotel Grand Turenne.
This year, I wanted more of a splurge for the end of my 50th birthday trip in September, and I've always wanted to stay at the Pavillon de la Reine on Place des Vosges, so I went for it, and it was lovely. Definitely not inexpensive, especially with the exchange rate at that time, but the location, service and charm of the hotel were all great. I was a little surprised at how small the rooms are, given the rates, but they are well-appointed and comfortable, and the bathroom in mine was quite large (with a separate tub and shower) which was a nice feature.

The Bourg Tibourg, located in the Marais, is a stylish boutique hotel decorated by Jacques Garcia. Small rooms but very nice bathrooms. Same owners at Hotel Costes. http://www.bourgtibourg.com/

My husband and I returned October 25 from Paris. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the lovely Hotel Lancaster, 7, rue de Berri. Located off the Champs-Elysees it is an oasis. We were upgraded to a suite (2 bathrooms!) upon arrival. Rooms are filled with antiques, original works of art and beautiful fabrics.
A full breakfast was included. The lounge area looks out onto a beautiful Asian garden. The restaurant, La Table du Lancaster, has one or two stars, I forget.
Very convenient to metro George V. Staff could not have been more wonderful and helpful.
