If money were no object, what would you recommend as a luxurious place to stay in Sedona? This is for a special anniversary, but not looking for heart-shaped beds.
We are considering L'Auberge, Enchantment Resort, and I think there's another very good one with Oak in its title. Searches here haven't turned up that many posts about more luxurious places to stay. We will have a car. We are interested in seeing some of the town, but also want to soak in the scenery and have gorgeous views at our hotel. A reputation for fine dining would be a bonus.

I stayed at Mii Amo, Enchantment's spa resort (on the same property), last March. I never made it to wander or eat at Enchantment since I was on a spa vacation and was too busy relaxing...but I can comment on the location of the resort itself. The resort is basically located in the bottom of Boynton Canyon - you can't help but have spectacular views. There are some fantastic hikes right outside your back door, and even more if you're willing to drive a short way. It's about 15 minutes into the center of Sedona, but we loved the resort so much that we stayed put.

I hear that the restaurant at Enchantment is very, very good.

If you enjoy spa treatments, I highly recommend use of the spa facilities - but do book early for your treatments...there's virtually no possibility of you getting the treatment you want if you wait until your arrival.

One of my patients recommends Garland's; price of lodging includes breakfasts and amazing culinary dinners. I can't wait to try it myself.

Enchantment Resort really is enchanting for its location (it is in a canyon by itself), its extraordinary food (served in a dining room with huge views of the canyon)and the comfort of the accommodations in small separate buildings which provide privacy and are connected by walkways with low lighting. The result is that the stars are super bright in the sky. Once we stayed at Enchantment when someone in our family was having a significant birthday and we special ordered a wonderful cake! A truly special place.

L'Auberge de Sedona is located on Oak Creek in downtown Sedona. I have not heard of a resort named Oak something in the area. I stayed at L'Auberge 3 nights. It was outstanding. We had dinner at Enchantment. If I returned I would stay at Enchantment.

From the pictures L'Auberge may have refurbished the entire resort since I was there. Dining outside by Oak Creek was outstanding. Enchantment is in the country with little foliage around. I think it would be very hot during the day but I'm sure they haved shade around the pool.

The place you are thinking of is the Inn on Oak Creek. It has a great location right on the Creek w/a wonderful view of the Red Rocks. Regardless of where you stay, certainly eat @ L'Auberge & for something less pricey, Dahl & Diluca (Italian).

I'm researching this also, and we seem to have come down to a choice between Enchantment and Adobe Grand Villas. Any pluses and minuses, even just on location, would be welcome.

Enchantment was a destination in itself for us. Because we were surrounded by the red rocks of Boynton Canyon, we never felt we needed to leave. There are a couple of hiking trails to take in more scenery, a first-class spa, great food and a pool with the best red rock view. But the location wasn't inconvenient when we did explore other hiking areas and town, too.

I don't know think the villas can offer the same experience. The accommodations are very nice, however.

We also enjoyed Enchantment very much and found it so relaxing & peaceful. The views are stunning. The spa is outstanding. Dining was excellent. Were there in mid-summer a couple years ago & it was very quiet and....extremely affordable....rooms were less than 150$ per night....

I can only add this: I wouldn't worry about being near the center of the town of Sedona. I thought the town was hideous.

I have not been in any of these high end places, but loved visiting Oak Creek Canyon.

I've never been a fan of Enchantment Resort. Just one opinion, and an old one as it has been a few years. The place never really felt inviting enough to me to live up to its name.

The grounds of the Enchantment Resort should be a national park. I can't figure how they ever aquired the fabulous site. The resort is surrounded by Boynton Canyon.

We had the room with the Murphy bed,seating area with beehive fireplace and very well equipped kitchen, very nice bathroom. It had a huge deck with a grill. It was really lovely. Every morning, they left orange juice in a bucket outside our door and every evening they brought us bottled water for our hikes.

We loved having lunch outside at the casual restaurant.

We would love to return.
Don't miss the fairly easy Doe Mountain Trail--it's a bit down the road--fantastic views every direction from the top. It's actually a mesa--flat at the top.
