Are there any good flea markets in Boston?

Not sure about Boston proper but in Rowley , MA on RT1a there is a large antique/flea market held on weekends. In Cambridge there is the Cambridge Antique Mart on McGrath Highway near Lechmere T station.

We mooched around there recently on a Saturday. 5 floors of an old warehouse with tons of dealers. Its cluttered with stuff - there may be some good buys in there but with the clutter we found it hard to focus.

Didn't find what I was looking for but had fun poking around. Gots some laughs as to what passes as "antique" - basically everything in my mothers and mother in law's houses. Guess it takes someone with more imagination or vision than me to see the value.

Thanks again for all your help. I too have to laugh sometimes at what is called "antique". Basically anything that's second hand is called antique but it's always worth having a look around these places, never know what treasure you might find. Again, thanks bennnie!

While trying to find out if Revere, Mass flea market is still there, I discovered a site - fleamarketsusa.com. It seems to list flea markets in many states. Add me to the list with in-law stuff to unload - we are in process of closing down their house. Anyone want to buy some junk with its sole claim to fame is that it is old and dusty?

This isn't a flea market, but if you're looking for antiques (especially furniture) in Boston, you should check out the Consignement Galleries in Somerville. Sorry, I can't remember the address, but it's on the outer edge of Davis Square on Highland Ave. Great stuff and even greater, very knowledgeable staff. The staff are also very honest and easygoing so you will never be pressured into making a purchase. We bought a lovely bow-font dresser there and absolutely love it! Good luck!

Just set up a booth in Cambridge and some Gen Yer will think its kitschy and buy it. My DH and I laughed alot over stuff we saw that either his mom or my mom owned and worse still do. Anybody interested in 1970s Italian American decor? I got a couple of Capidemonte (sp?)lamps depicting shepard boys holding jugs of water. Or how about my mom's framed picture of JFK (not Jr.!) - a standard fixture in every Irish American's home in the 1960s.

Makes me wonder if my kids will be laughing at my teak furniture. Come to think of it that stuff is so early 80s. Guess its time for a yard sale.

Thanks again to all for advice and suggestions. I'm not looking to buy anything big as I'll be travelling back to Ireland. Sometimes I wonder what in my own house would find its way into flea markets of the future. Scary thought!

Outside of Boston is the Grafton Flea Market (small indoor and lots of outdoor), and the new Lancaster Flea Market (indoor and I'm not sure about outdoor). Good luck!
