July Travel
Has anyone gone to Egypt and/or Jordan in the month of July? How hot is it? I guess what I am trying to decide is if the heat will make the trip TOO unpleasant.
My husband and I would be traveling with a tour company that uses 4 or 5 star hotels and air conditioned vehicles (still deciding who to use). Because of my job, I am limited to when I can travel, so this is my only time for this area (which I really want to see - Pyramids and Petra especially).
Any insight would be appreciated.

never been to Jordan but to Egypt in July. Its very hot, you can get between 40 and 50 C° during the day. But its dry heat so we got along with it well. You will have to get up very very early (we got up around 5 am) and go for visits until between 9 and 11. Go back to hotel and then get out again around 4 to 5 in the afternoon. During day its too hot.
But Kairo will be horrible this time, it is dusty and the heat will get stuck in the city. So stay outside the city, take a hotel near the Pyramids in Gizeh (Mena House Oberoi is fantastic). But dont forget to go to Luxor which is the better sight than Gizeh. At Luxor you need at least 3 days and you will like it. If you have enough time, go and visit Abu Simbel and Assuan.

i was in Jordan in June. It was hot during the day, but not any worse than Italy or Spain in the summer. I was comfortable staying out all day in Petra and other places, but a good hat, sunglasses and lots of water are a must. Egypt is worse.
Also, most places in Jordan had steady breeze which made it pleasant. don't know if it's normal or not.

Cairo is very hot in the summer but if you have a/c buses it shouldn't be hot. The Cairo museum is NOT a/c so make sure you take a hand fan and bottle of water.
My husband works in Cairo and I would recommend the Hotel Helipolis. It is a Fairmont Hotel now. It is about 45 mins from the Pyramids and 10 min from Airport but well worth it. It has outdoor restaurants and live music in the evenings. Lots of locals go there to have dinner and listen to the music.
