Something like Swept Away Negril, but different

Hey there,
I'm in charge of planning the honey moon and could use some help. I have been to Swept Away Negril and loved it but was there with someone else years ago and it wouldn't make sense to return with my new bride, so I'd like some help finding something similar.
Things I liked:
Private villas or at least small buildings with seclusion verses the giant hotels.
AI with great food and many options.
Nice beach.
I saw Sandals Grande Antigua today and think that might be a good option?

One other note, this is for July 08, so not sure how the weather will affect choices.

Thanks!

I did not much care for the Sandals Antigua and am a big fan of Swept Away.

Have you considered Grand Lido Negril? It is very nice and would fit your needs nicely. Smaller property, very nice beach (Negril), very good food and service.

I also have to recommend Le Blanc in Cancun. We stayed there in November and it was the most romantic, uspcale AI I have stayed in anywhere, ever. It is high rise but it feels very intimate and the quality is outstanding. Far, Far better than any Sandals and replace Swept Away as my # 1 choice. I don't even care for Cancun but we are headed back just to experience Le Blanc again.

I'm also not a fan of Sandals chain, and the Sandals Antigua in particular. Perhaps take a look at Galley Bay on Antigua, which is a cut above the Sandals there. The rooms are either in the Gaughin cottages with private plunge pools or beachfront rooms that are either 2 or 4 per building. www.galleybay.com

La Luna on Grenada is another place to consider. It's a totally romantic atmosphere with a rustic chic decor. www.laluna.com There are some good packaged being offered for LaLuna on LuxuryLink.com. It's a good website for checking out higher end Caribbean resorts and to get an idea of what pricing is for these places.

Hey thanks for the info so far. I took a look at the links to Gallery Bay and LaLuna, and they look incredible, but the rates I found are a little out of reach. Could manage if I didn't need to fly. I am looking to spend between $4-5K and that needs to include airfare from CLT. The more I read about Antigua Grande, the more I'm leery of it. Please give more suggestions!

Are the LaLuna rates on the LuxuryLink package still beyond your reach if you added on airfare? The last time I looked at it it looked like it might fit your budget.

Let's see...what other places do I know that have nice beaches, an AI or meal plan package, and cottages instead of rows of buildings...keep in mind that some of these places won't meet all of your requirements:

www.jamaicainn.com on Jamaica
www.tikaye.com on St. Lucia
Jalousie Plantation on St. Lucia (can't recall website, but there are outstanding packages available on LuxuryLink)
Hawksbill Beach Resort on Antigua (much lower than the Galley Bay, though)

You might want to check out www.eliteislandresorts.com to see if they're running any Galley Bay specials if that place looks good to you. In the past they've offered fifth night free and free airfare with seven nights stays.

Maybe www.youngisland,com, a private island resort just off the coast of St. VIncent. This place always has great deals available on LuxuryLink.com.

Thanks ejcrowe for the help thus far. I'm looking up places as I get the time. Tikaye and young island both look great. I'm looking for any deals on LL but haven't found either of those locations yet. Is there a way to search LL for a specific resort?
I also noticed on LL that a lot of the deals are only good up until May/June. Is there a pattern with regards to when new deals are posted with relation to thier usable dates?

Also, I think JA is off the list.

Right now most of the packages you're seeing are the more expensive packages good for travel through March or April. If you don't mind playing the waiting game for another month or so, you'll probably find that some packages go down in price.

Yes, you can do a search on LuxuryLink--it's probably under something like Advanced Search, but you can enter the name of an island or the name of a resort and see what comes up that way.

There have even been some nice auction packages available on www.skyauction.com lately, so it might be worth your while to check those out, too. Just be careful to read the "fine print", such as the nightly service charge or any upgrade fees that might be available, before you bid.
