Varadero Beaches

Is the beach in front of Tryp Peninsula hotel too wavy? Does central Varadero have better beaches (Melia Las Americas area)? Can anyone suggest a great hotel (all inclusive, decent food? clean rooms, amazing pool and nice beach)?

Hi Vicki,

I'm not too sure about the beach in front of the Tryp but I'm sure it's as nice as anywhere else in Varadero seeing as all the hotels line the same beach. The Melia Las Americas location is beautiful and the beach absolutely breathtaking. I stayed at the Brisas Del Caribe last year which is not too far from Melia, and the beach area was spectacular. It was very calm and warm. Next time I go to Varadero (if I go a next time) I would be interested in the SuperClubs Breeezes Varadero which gets a lot of positive reviews...it's a good chain of hotels and I hear the food is good...mind you the food in Cuba is not that great. I know a lot of people who have vacationed there in nice hotels and their only dismay was with the food. Other than that, you'll have a great time if you're a beach lover.

Vicki,
I'm not 100% sure if my memory seves me well, because I haven't been to Varadero for about 5 years, but I think I remember thinking that I didn't like the location of the Tryp. We were going out on a boat tour and passed it and it seemed to be quite a bit away from the main strip of beach. MOst hotels were down further...we stayed at Bella Costa and loved it. But I've heard that it has slipped a bit, but the food was great. But certainly this area of the beach was beautiful in both directions.
HOpe this helps.

I stayed at the Tryp (opened July 15, 2001). The beach was nice. It does get a narrower on that end, but it is not any wavier than elsewhere. This resort is awsome. We saw 20 hotels (TA trip) and this was my favorite. FYI I personally hated the Melia Las Americas.
