Speedos/String Bikinis for Teens?

Hi, my teen-age twins (boy and girl, both aged 14) INSIST on wearing what I think are too-small bathing suits, the girl wants to wear a thong and the boy really wants to wear a speedo. Nothing wrong with it, but because they are both a bit "large" for their age I am concerned about the attention they will get on the beach in France. They both tell me "hey, mom, everyone does it overthere!"

What should I do? Should I put my foot down, or should I let them both be stared at?

This type of attire, regardless of the age of the wearer, is best saved for the streets and public transportation vehicles of large cities--poeple on beaches & in smaller towns might not "understand."

Hello.....have you ever seen Europeans at the beaches? Most of them (also in speedos and bikinis) aren't exactly cover material for Fitness Magazine. Agree that most people in Europe do wear those type of suits regardless of their body shape.

Janice, the problem isn't that they are overweight, the problem (I think) is that they are very . . . shapely for their age. That's why I am concerned about men staring at Stacy and women staring at Todd.

I don't buy this.... 14 year old boys HATE Speedos (unless they are on swim teams) They like the baggiest shorts they can find. SoccerMom, you're a fraud.

Nope, nope. What makes you so knowledgable about every 14 year old? I guess you haul off to the local walmart or costco and find your children's fashion statements there, 40% off everyday.

I'm curious, Soccer Mom? What state do you live in. 14 year olds in San Diego don't wear speedos.

Troll quality is declining sharply on this board. Is the bathing suit going to be the only piece of clothing each child takes to France, and they and you will have no money to buy something else while there? If they feel uncomfortable, they can change or put on a cover-up.
Sorry SoccerMom, the only reason why your daughter will be eyeballed is that she is wearing too much. Make sure she takes off the top like the other fems in France, and most of Europe.

Many people wear tiny bathing suits on the Beaches of France. Even large people. As longas the wearer feels comfortable don't see the problem,

I wouldn't take them to Italy if I were you. If they are that attractive in their thongs/speedos they will be stolen by gypsies.

i think when mom talks about her kids being large she means (for the boy) his genitals and (for the girl) her rack--notice how she is concerned about people looking at them?
