Simon, where are you?
Dear Simon, I really need your expertise on traveling and staying on Malta in comfort and style, while on a budget of 65 Euros per day for an interesting hotel.

Please refer to your thread about info on Malta.

Cheers, Sidley

Try emailing Simon directly. He's said in the past he doesn't check Fodor's daily. I think he gives his real email address in his posts here.
Good luck.
P.S. We stayed at The Diplomat hotel in Sliema 4 years ago. For us, it was perfectly situated, bus stop across the street etc. Just last week, I was quoted a rate of about $70 a day for two people at The Diplomat as part of the Malta Tourist Authority's ongoing promotions. I'm not sure how that translates into Euros.

Hello everyone, I am back. But without the email address at least for now. My old one got blasted by spam, so I chose to go private. I will try to check out my thread (MALTA & GOZO - info offer) more often, but I have recently been bogged down with work. Sorry !

You will get comfort, but for $65 a day, style is a bit out of reach i would say, though you never know, hotels have been pretty low on bookings after the attack on USA.
Well, you should check out hotels on the main island (Malta) unless you want a relaxing away from it all holiday (if so, try Gozo). I don't know what prices are like now, but you might just be able to make it.
Try the Hilton in St Julian's for style and comfort, or the Corinthia San Gorg (www.corinthia.com.mt) or the Radisson. They are all next to each other in the best area. In Gozo try the San Lawrenz.
Wish you luck ! Email if you need more info.
