Hi<BR>I am spending 2 weeks in Bulgaria at one of the Black Sea Coastal resorts.<BR>Has anyone got any tips or information on the best sights to see/people/food & drink/weather as I cannot find much on the net.<BR>Thank you very much I am really looking forward to my trip!

A great web site to tell you about part of Bulgaria, and give you some links to other sites, is the site for the city of Plovdiv. I don't recall the web address right now, but with your browser I'm sure you can search and find it. Also, they put out a monthly update on various happenings in Bulgaria, which can keep you current on the goings-on. You can subscribe to the monthly e-mail newsletter from the web site. If you can't find it, come back to Fodors and ask again; I'll look it up. Sorry, I just don't have time right now. Good Luck.

<BR>We did a few days in Burgas and a night in Varna driving back from Istanbul to Germany. Buy a dictionary when you arrive; the alphabet is unique. Swim in the Black Sea. Relax. Visit the outdoor markets. Food and wine are so-so. Russian vodka is cheap. For sight seeing information you may need to consult an encyclopedia in your library. <BR>By the way, why are you going if you don't know what you are going to do there? <BR>www.enjoy-europe.com

I have been to the Golden Sands once and to the Varna area two years in a row. Plan to take some outings to downtown Varna, Nessebur, and Balchick. There are Roman ruins in Varna and don't miss the archeological museum in Varna. They have the largest and oldest find of gold jewlery on display. Prices are much cheaper than Westerners are used to, especially away from the resorts.

The Black sea resorts are awesome - last summer they told me they are sort of becoming a major tourist destination in europe. food is cheap in the local places, and if you're near varna, don't miss the cave monasteries north of the city or balchik, a small town with a middle-eastern palace and botanical gardens... there are other kool places further in the country too - shoumen, pliska, madara, preslav with lotsa historic stuff. you should definitely get a day-tour of those too...
