Questions About St. Kitts
I would like to know should I rent a car? I will probably be staying in the Firgate Bay Area. I would also like to know some opinions about the hotels in that area. I am leaning toward Horizon Villas but Timothy Beach Resort and Frigate Bay Resort are also on my list can you help me?

My husband & I stayed at Timothy Beach Resort last July & loved it. You really dont need a car unless you really think you need one. The taxi service is reliable & reasonable.Bobbsie's taxi service is great. He & his wife run it & they are such nice people. Dont forget a trip to Brimstone Hill..beautiful!!!

My wife and kids just came back from St. Kitts, we stayed at Timothy Beach, and would recommend renting a car. Once you get past the fright of driving on the left side you will find it simple to navigate around. We were able to go everywhere when we wanted. The taxi services will take you anywhere but by the time you wait for them you typically could be there and back. In reference to Timoty Beach or Horizon, we would stay at Timothy Beach again. The staff is very friendly, the grounds are lovely, and it has alot to offer.

Yes -- rent a car -- St. Kitts is an incredibly picturesque island and perfect for a nice drive. Whether you are driving to Brimstone Hill, Mount Liamuiga, or simply the beaches south of Frigate Beach, you will want a car to take in the views and be on your own schedule. It's a very simple island to drive around with little traffic.

As for hotels, I've stayed at Horizons a few times, and once at Frigate Bay. I've heard good things about Timothy, but never stayed there. I like Horizons b/c I prefer the villa, which is spacious, has a kitchen, and a washer & dryer ... Frigate is decent, but I much preferred Horizons.

Either way, you are a short drive away from all of the great beaches to the south (10 minutes max), and the Frigate Bay Beach itself is very nice -- much, much better than it was 2 years ago when hurricane damage was very noticeable.

Definately rent a car - it will get you to "go out" and see all there is on the island. Without a car, it's too easy to lounge around the hotel and miss the experience of the islands, and the many remote beaches. If you check out TimothyBeach.com for the Timothy Beach Resort I think you'll be sold on staying there. It just doesn't get any better than TBR for a truly Carribean feeling... Enjoy you trip, and bring LOT's of film!
