Singapore weather in July??

I am planning a trip with my daughter to Singapore in July. What kind of weather should we expect? We will do lots of shopping AND sightseeing, but I would rather not be under an umbrella the whole time!

Hi, thanks for planning to visit!
Singapore's weather is hot or hotter all year round. Rain is a regular visitor, but, except for the year-end, not often enough to have to carry an umbrella everywhere you go.
Besides, you're well-protected in the shopping centres, which can even be cold with all that air-conditioning!

Chris -

Be ready for heat and humidity so extreme, you feel like you're walking around in a sauna. It's insane.

If you're from a hot/humidity climate it probably won't phase you as much as it did us. We're from an inland area in Southern California so we're used to dry heat. The Singapore humidity did us in.

Just be prepared!

One more thing; if you really want to do lots of shopping, skip Singapore and head for Thailand.

Because it is an island, so the wind helps a lot when considering the chances of rainfall. It is very warm, approx. 30C, cloudy and showers. I think it would be the same for all SE asia region for this time of year.

Hi Chris!
Singapore is very close to the Equator so the weather never really changes...it is ALWAYS hot and humid as the above posters have stated. I lived there for 3 years and always carried an umbrella because it seemed to rain just when you needed to head to a place that wasn't covered! And if you aren't using the umbrella for rain, it is great protection from the sun too.

On shopping. Singapore shopping is great- huge variety and inexpensive relative to the US. Thailand is very inexpensive for crafts, fabrics etc.. but you'll want to avoid it in July- it's the rainy season. Last time I was in Bangkok in July, there were floods which made the awful traffic jams even worse. (travelling a distance that would normally take less than a minute took half an hour).
