Novotel Caen/Hotel D'Argouges/Chateau de Bellefontaine
Has anyone stayed at the Novotel Caen or Chateau de Bellefontaine? About Hotel D'Argouges: I've read a few things on older threads about it, but I'm interested in hearing more from people who have stayed there. I'll be staying 5 nights wherever I pick, so I'm concerned with comfort, especially when it comes to a good back-supportive bed. I had wanted to stay at the Lion D'Or, in Bayeux, but it's fully booked for a couple of nights that I need. Thanks.

Hotel D'Argouges has small rooms with newer, small ensuite bathrooms. On site parking is a plus. A bit farther from the cathedral and museums than others, but still a good location. We found it pleasant but over priced and the service perfunctory. Avoid the Annex if possible. Make sure that 'breakfast is included" does not really mean "breakfast is possible but charged separately" Wifi is spotty and only available for one device at a time per room. We could only use in the room, not in public spaces.
If you go to Normandy for the WWII history, spend your money on an individual tour, not an overpriced hotel.

HOtel Bayeux in well, Bayeux, is a very adequate clean economical hotel with attached car park. It is 5 minutes to the Cathedral and to the Tapestry and near an exit to the roads leaving the city.
Bayeux seemed a good central location for us.
