Radisson Deauville Resort Miami Beach

I am going to a conference at this hotel in February. I was considering taking my husband for a few days before hand and making it a mini-vacation, but I don't know anything about this hotel or area. Is it nice? Luxurious? Is the area safe? Things to see/do outside the hotel? I've never been to Miami. If anyone can offer any opinions, comments or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Mary Sue:
This is the same Deauville that was popular in the '50's with about 20 million dollars in renovations and an updated attitude. It is in one of the most desireable areas of Miami. Bring hubby and have a great time!!

I agree. It's very nice on the inside and it's a stone's throw away from the Delano and National, if I remember correctly. IT's in a GREAT area..close to Lincoln Road Mall..lots of shopping, people, but not SO overpopulated as to make you uncomfortable. Ocean Drive between 2 and 10 is VERY overpopulated. Have a great time and certainly, take your husband!

This hotel is centrally located and very nice. It is in a safe area but not in the middle of the craziness. Definitely go the Ocean drive, especially at night. It has a million restaurants and bars. Lincoln Road also has shops, restaurants and more bars. Cheap and free ideas: visit hotel lobbies- some are simply beautiful. The lobby of the Delano is stunning and surreal, walk around and see the architecture. Don't recommend renting a car and "exploring" Miami, especially at night. South Beach is a world of its own, not too far from it the neighborhoods deteriote rapidly and can be dangerous.
