Will be in Buckhead at the Grand Hyatt for three days in September.What are the three hippest, coolest restaurants to visit? Thanks in advance.

Melody Try doing a search with Buckhead in it. We stayed in Buckhead last sprin and Brian in Atlanta and several other gave some recommendations which were good. We tried a few but I have forgotton the names.

One little cafe on a corner, right in the happening area, called Tu tu tango was a fun spot to hit with tons of people.

Some guy on of flight told us to go to a Italian restaurant for the best pizza in Atlanta - don't remember the name but its in the same area and it has a guys name in it. Downright disgusting, dirty, poor service, ewwww! The guy on the plane must have been friends with whoever owned the nasty place.

Nava, La Grotta, Pano's and Paul's would be good choices all.
Be sure to call well in advance, or have your concierge make arrangements (I'd call the concierge at least 2-3 weeks in advance and let him/her know what you'd like to have arranged).
Nava is southwestern but by no means common or too casual. It's very upscale but still not stuffy, nice outdoor eating area, right on Peachtree (just drive west from your hotel and you'll hit it a liitle over a mile away). La Grotta has a few locations in Atlanta and is excellent Italian.

I LOOOVED the Buckhead Diner. Call for reservations & try the duck meatloaf. Out of this world, fun atmosphere!

Currently the hotest new restaurant in Buckhead is BluePoint, though I haven't been so I can't vouch for its quality.

If you did search for previous postings, please note that Fusebox closed unexpectedly.

Places I like in Buckhead include Anis for affordable French with a nice porch and Ciao Bella for Italian. While you'll no doubt see beautiful people at both, they're more established and not really the "hottest" scene anymore (though the food is good).

La Grotta serves decent and costly Italian, but you may find the buckhead location a bit stuffy - I think David's suggestion of Nava would suit you better.

Sorry I can't help more, I'm more of a Midtown person myself. Enjoy Atlanta.

I agree with many of these. Haven't been to BluePoint - but hear it is VERY hip. Also Nava is very cool. Another great italian restaurant is Maggiano's (walking distance from the Grand Hyatt.) Enjoy!

Whatever you do, don't go to the Cheesecake Factory, Brian will scold you about your lack of taste.

Blue Pointe is certainly one of the hottest places in town right now. It's very attractive and the food is quite good albeit quite pricey as well. Another hot place at the moment is Aria on E. Paces Ferry Rd--also pretty pricey but excellent quality of food and service. Also near the Hyatt is Brasserie Le Coze-don't let the mall location deter you-it is a very fine French restaurant owned by the same people as NYC's top rated Le Bernadin.

many good suggestions already. i have to say that atlanta has some very good restaurants. many are not in the buckhead area--although buckhead has more than it's share. my opinion---tu tu tango is a very fun place. i don't do bar hopping very often but when i go there i always have a good time. i think they serve food, but that's not what i have gone there for. the only pizza place i know of with a person's name is rocky's---don't know for sure if that't the one brooke is referring to but it is in buckhead. also can't really opin on it since i've never been.

i always enjoy nava. food is excellent, atmosphere is good. but it is busy so making a reservation in advance is a good idea. right behind nava is chops---it's a steak place. very good if your in the mood for steak.

buckhead diner is pretty good, i wouln't list it on my favorite's list--but it definately gets a passing grade. across the street is the corner cafe, which i like better. don't know if their open for dinner. on the same side of piedmont road as the corner cafe and about a block north is sambuca---a very happening spot--dancing,etc.

a couple of blocks west of the same area on maple drive are two small restaurants that i also like very much----soleil and grappa. right next door to each other. soleil is owned by the original owner of anis---also a very good restaurant in the general area.

i have been to blue point---food is excellent, service could use some improvement. at least when i was there and that was probably two months ago. it has a very cosmopolitan feel to it. it is in the pinnacle building, across the street from phipps plaza. if you think you want to try it you should try to make your reservation now. it is definately a hot spot in atlanta right now.

for breakfast and lunch there is a smaller restaurant in the same building as maggiano's--the corner bakery i believe. very good!!!

brasserie le coze is excellent---it is at lenox square (a mall). there are two other restaurants there that people talk about--prime (another steak place) and tom tom's. haven't been to either, but some people like them.

this only scratches the surface of the good restaurants in buckhead. then you have more in midtown, virginia highlands, decatur, etc.

Here is a place to avoid: Dantes Down the Hatch. It's heavily advertised in Atlanta hotels. It is a fondue place. They bring you raw meat on sticks and a pot of sizzling oil in which to boil it. It is as disgusting as it sounds. They keep it so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face, I presume so you won't be sickened by the sight of all the raw meat. It doesn't work.
