Greg,

No offense, but you have A LOT of homework to do. 1st, Ljublijana is in Slovenia, a former Yugoslavian republic and is nowhere near Slovakia. It borders Italy, Hungary, Austria and Croatia. 2nd, Ljublijana/Slovenia does not have a tropical climate. I guarantee that you will not see a palm tree and may very well see snow since the climate is temperate, similar to NY. The winters are cold and snowy, something like New York State. 3rd, $250 per day is a very large budget for any country unless you plan on 5 star hotels. I found the prices in Slovenia (4 years ago) to be fairly comparable to the US. That is probably more than twice as much as you need. 4th, No, they generally do not have a/c in Europe, definitely NOT in Slovenia. But you said you're going in Dec! 5th, Ljublijana is a very small city, about 200,000 people. 2 days is enough. You will need to go to other places to fill your time which I will get to in a minute. 6th, KLM is a DUTCH airline.

Places to see: Bled, a resort on a lake. Breathtaking scenery. The Julian Alps with lots of skiing. In summer, the coast of Portoroz and Piran. The country side is very pretty, too. Postonja caves in any season. They are one of the largest cave systems in the world. There are several national parks. However, I was there in the summer and it is difficult to travel in cold weather and the fields will certainly not be green. Consider going to Northern Italy, Austria/Vienna, perhaps take a train trip to Prague or Budapest. 16 days is a very long time in a country the size of NJ with only 2 million people (NJ has 8 million). If you are serious about this posting, like I said, you have A LOT of homework to do for this trip!

I agree with Caryn. If you are serious, DO A LOT OF HOMEWORK. Here is a URL where you could begin : www.creativ.si/tourist/index.htm

Slovenia is a great place to go skiing. Think Kranjska Gora and Maribor. Itīs home to some of the best skiers in the world, they have always been really elegant.

Come on. Gregory belongs on the Lonely Planet boards, not here. First of all, Ljubljana is in Slovenia, second of all, it's not tropical in the least, third of all....Dutchland? I think our friend Gregory is toying with us.
