Hotels in San Pedro de Atacama?
I will be in this area in mid-November, solo (older) woman traveler. I will not have a car. The beautiful high-end all-inclusive lodges are outside my budget. But I would like a hotel/inn where it is easy to book various excursions with transportation, and which also has a restaurant. I will be there 4 nights. Suggestions?

SPdeA is very small and pretty safe, so it don't think it matters too much if the place has a restaurant or not. Likewise, tour operators are everywhere and I would be inclined to make researching those a priority rather than a place to stay. They may even be able to sort out a place for you in some sort of inclusive deal.
You are wise to book somewhere in advance. We arrived there, as many people seemed to, without any reservation and it was a bit of a bun fight trying to find somwhere along with everyone else who got off the bus from Salta!
I can't recall the name of the place we stayed but wouldn't recommend it anyway!

Very good advice - I was thinking backwards. Which, of course, leads me to the next obvious question? Recommended tour operators? I read a review somewhere for EcoTours.
I am interested in seeing the "usual" sites - Moon Valley, the geysers, the salt flats, the flamingoes, short hikes only.

Hi MyBaggage -- I am also a solo female traveler going to SPdeA in a couple weeks. Did you find a hotel that you were happy with? Tour operators? Any advice would be appreciated as it sounds like we had similar situation. Thanks in advance!
