One week at Lake Como

We were given a weeks vacation at Lake Como! Never been to Europe! Arriving this Saturday! Please advise! We have a boat and a car and bicycles. What should we not miss? Thank you so much?

You do not have much time before you are off to Lake Como.

A. Purchase a Michelin Green Guide, Lago Como sights are described starting on page 256. (My copy but newer printings might start somewhere else)
B. Type Lake Como in the search box at the top right of the screen. You will then be directed to several entries from other posters whom have specific questions.

If you still have questions, it would help if you narrow your focus.

We stayed in Bellaggi in May.
We ate dinner at:
1. La Fontana - my favorite meal! We sat outdoors with no real view but a spectacular sunset. Beautiful presentation, lovely maitre'd and excellent food at reasonable prices. [next to mini mart]
2.San Giacomo - it was good and we got in with no wait.
3. Bilacus - very good.
4. Hotel Florence. I wasn't thrilled here. It was breezy out so we opted to eat indoors. For most of our meal, we were the only ones in the dining room - so it was a mixed feeling of being alone [romantic] and too quite.

If you aren't staying in Milan at all [except to arrive and depart] you might do a day trip. We really enjoyed our 3 days there.

Hotel Florence has a nice bar where you can also have food.

Never ate in the dinning room, but we did have the large deck just above the bar with only two rooms that had access, our friends and us.

Cheese and crackers overlooking the lake on the deck was a special treat.

We did eat across the street under the vines and had a lovely lunch.

Listen, have a great time whatever you decide.

Lovely area.

See my link for my take on The Florence's restaurant. We should have eaten where you did, Richard.

DebitNM; We never got into the dinning room, but the lunch along the lake was good.

The other 2 nights in Bellagio we ate at local restaurants.
