Time to comfortably allot to get to train station in Madrid from hotel
Our hotel is the Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII at Calle Alfonso XII 18, 28014 Madrid, Spain. It looks like it's about 1 mile from there to the Puerta de Atocha train station where the Cordoba AVE train leaves.
How much time would you comfortably allot to get to the train station AND find the train?
Also, can you tell me something about cabs in Madrid. Is it something you just flag down or do you call for them in advance?

I would leave the hotel an hour before the train. (Mr. C would probably allow an extra 15 minutes.) Very easy to find trains.
You can easily flag down cabs or you can download the Hailo app, which we used the whole time we were in Madrid. It's similar to Uber, but not for paying, just procuring regular licensed cabs.

Your hotel is less then 10 minutes by taxi from the station on a bad day. You do not have to be at the station until 20 minutes before departure. There is a taxi stand nearby, but I would have the hotel order one ahead of time to be sure.

You are in the heart of everything in Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso XII. Normally a ten-fifteen minutes walk to the Atocha station, taxis are everywhere and, as Robert says, get the hotel to order one for you. Very easy to find trains at the station.
And have a nice time in wonderful Cordoba! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyfGdpF55Uk
