London... 5 Nights
London will be the final stop on our first trip to Europe. We'll be starting out in Amsterdam for 3 nights, travel via rail to Paris for 4 nights and then will have 5 nights in London before departing for home.
I would appreciate any tips on what to see and do, day trips, using public transportation versus renting a car and places to stay.
There will be four of us traveling, two of which are teenagers. I'm thinking I would like to rent an apartment (otherwise I expect I will have to secure two hotel rooms). It would also be nice to have place to do laundry.
I appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks -

You do not want anything to do w/ a car in London.and with 4.5 days you really don't have time for a day trip. Except maybe to Hampton court palace ( which is really in London)
You will be able to get anywhere you want by public transport.
The list of musts is much longer than your 4+ days so what sorts of things do you enjoy? Do you have a guide book?
The short list would include the Tower of London, British museum, Westminster abbey, St. Paul's, a boat ride, Hampton Court, Churchill War rooms, Greenwich, a few other museums/parks/theatre.
Re a flat - what is you budget?

Thanks for the short list of must sees!
As for budget for a flat or hotel...
If we did a hotel and needed to two rooms, I would expect 250 to 300 euros per night per room. So for a flat, I would guess 500 to 550 euros per night. Does that sound reasonable?

For 5 nights with two teenagers a flat would be better in my opinion.
500 euros is about 365 pounds (pound is strong at the moment, which should be fine for a flat. www.onefinestay.com have a few in that price range with 2 bedrooms in central areas.
