Hong Kong hotel for one night

Will be straying in Hong Kong Nov 22 for one day. Any hotel suggestions? No clue what area would be good. Hope to see the best of the city then fly out the next day. Good location, clean hotel after a long flight from the USA

What is your budget? Hong Kong Hotels are expensive.

we enjoyed our stay at the YMCA very much. Easy to get to - you get the train into the city then the free hotel shuttle bus getting off at the Peninsular which is next door, and it's a proper hotel with views over the harbour from some rooms. Also nice and close to the Star ferry and the underground if you want to go over to Central for the evening.

Their rates were substantially lower than comparable hotels when we went last November.

It was recommended by some people here and we were very pleased we'd followed their lead.

I always stay at the Salisbury, website above in Annhig's reply. It's very nice and the best deal in town, by far. The "harbor view" rooms are great but you can opt for non-view rooms and save a bit. It's a short walk to the Star Ferry for the short ride to HK Island. And for that reason I love it too. I'd much rather enjoy the view of the island across the harbor and have an excuse to ride the ferry every day, than to stay on the other side.

I agree about the joy of being able to ride the ferry, MmePerdu, and if I had only one night in HK, that's one of the things I'd want to do. also to go up into the mid-levels and ride the escalators - something I had never heard about before we got there but which struck me as an archetypal HK experience.

I love the escalators too. Only in Hong Kong (as far as I know). What a city!

I believe you've received the same recommendation from both of us. The Salisbury YMCA Hotel at the southern tip of Kowloon, next to the famous and very expensive Peninsula Hotel, and a bargain.
