Travel from Yangon to Bagan

Hi:
Does anyone out there have any recent experience with the domestic airlines of Myanmar?
I've heard they have a lousy safety record. We would like to travel up to Bagan to see the temples but it's a long trip overland and we are worried about flying. Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.

I have flown this route with a domestic airline Air Bagan I think. The plane seemed relatively new and we did not have any concerns.

The airlines within Myanmar are all same-same. That said, we liked Air Mandalay best, Air Yangon the least. Basically, anywhere you want to go in Myanmar requires a flight.

Where will you be flying from? Here are some schedules of flights to and from Bagan.

We flew air Yangon three times. It was fine. One flight left about forty five minutes late due to weather in h ego! otherwise they arrive in time or early.

Forgot to mention, you can take a boat from Mandalay to Bagan which is about ten hours, but a very nice trip.

I'm not sure how helpful the flight schedules link is. It lists only one airline (I think there are now 5). Still, the best way to get accurate flight schedules and to buy your tickets is through a local agent in Yangon.
