ROAD FROM FIGUERES TO CADAQUES IN JANUARY?
We will be in Barcelona for New Years Eve, and we would like to take an one night trip to Girona, Figueres and Cadaques. We know that many places will be closed in Cadaques, but we heard that it's beautiful. Is the drive to Cadaques difficult? Does it have steep and dangerous drops like the Pacific Coast Highway 1 in CA? Is the wind a factor in winter? If the answer to all these questions is yes, we might look for another town. Many thanks!

Who knows what the weather will be like on NYE. The coast is called Costa Brava for good reason, but the last time we where there in early January, it was clear and calm, no wind.
No, driving the coast is not like heading up Highway 1. Check out this article from the NYTimes, August 08 (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/17/tr...anted=all&_r=0)

It's an easy drive and even easier if you take the main highway. The actual coast road will be very quiet in January but will take longer as it does hug the coast for much of the route.
Choose you road depending on the weather and how much time you have.
