Hip Strip Jamaica

So we still havent found the ultimate place for us. Havent been to jamaica or any other islands like that one. We are into nightlife, watersports and great times. We are looking for the night life and uncertain about hip strip. Is there nightlife there. I called the resorts its about 20 dollars us for a taxi to get there. So unless we find another couple to split the costs it would be expensive. after reading reviews on the resorts like sunset secrets etc. the night life is pretty boring. Any ideas. we like to dance listen to music a drink. We are lost. leaving in 4 weeks but dont know where

5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Several pedestrian blocks of clubs, bars, restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

There are several boutique hotels on and around 5th Avenue. If you like AI's the Royal Playa del Carmen (adult only) and their sister resort the Grand Porto Real (family friendly) are a 5 minute walk to 5th Avenue.

We've been to Jamaica twice, but have not stayed in Montego Bay, which the "Hip Strip" is located. We did not find much nightlife in Negril or Ocho Rios. Outside of the resorts, the locals can get really aggressive.

Aruba Palm Beach area is a good choice also. Tons of restaurants, bars, shopping and entertainment beach front and across the street from the hotels. Easy walking to most everything. Their bus system is easy, cheap and convenient.

Not the Caribbean, but Duval Street in Key West, FL is also a great place for restaurants, bars and nightlife. Plenty of hotels and B & B's within walking distance. Not really a beach vacation, but great for sightseeing.

There was some activity going on at Margaritaville in Negril pretty much all night, since we could hear the thudding thru the night. Apart from that it seemed sedate as is much of the Caribbean. Too bad you can't go to Havana (or can you?)
Rodney Bay in St Lucia, St Lawrence Barbados & Tobago with its famous Sunday School but this is nothing like Key West or PDC, it's locals with steel bands & street food dancing etc with locals & tourists mingling. It's not Vegas.i don't think the Caribbean is the place to go for great nightlife apart from those areas mentioned by KVR & Havana. Aruba is a great, fun little island.

How about Negril? You can find nightlife and various beach parties off the resorts.

The Dutch side of St. Maarten has nightlife around the Maho Bay area: casinos, restaurants, bars. If you stay in the area you can walk and won't even need to rent a car or take taxis. I would encourage you to rent a car, however, to get to Orient Beach on the French side. You'll find all the water sports you want up there and a fun time to boot.

There is some nightlife (Margaritaville or Pier 1) on the hip strip but I doubt it’s what you are looking for. If you want to stick to Jamaica, I think you should look at Negril. It sounds like it would be more your style.

If you want a real ‘party vibe’ you would likely be better off in Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, or Cancun though.
