Need some info!!!
Whats up? Heading to London until July 1 and living near Covent Garden, need the some info:
Looking for some clubs with real beer/European and American ladies. It would be great to know some good restaurants in the area. I don't want to eat hagis, boiled oats and kidney pie every day. AND no other wierd ethnic food.
Also, in about 2 weeks I will need to move from my hotel to an apartment. I definately need a shower and at least one bedroom. Budget is about $1800 per month. No idea of any rental agencies so that would be good. Hopefully that will buy me something better than the average Mr. Bean studio. Laundry facilities would be a nice bonus.
Unfortunately I will have to ride the tube and won't be driving, so proximity to a station is a must.
Also, a list of things to do in London other than the normal hohum touristy stuff. Not into castles or kitchy bridges and churches. Wouldn't mind renting a decent boat with some power and checking out some clubs on the river if there are any.

Then best stay in whatever provincial dump is unfortunate enough to house you at present.

Seriously people, if you actually go there, you'll experience what I have. Eel jelly will be the least of your problems.
Very funny comment though. I gave it a laugh.
I am assuming there is a Starbucks in the area? I do like great Italian food though...Did go to a place back in 2007 that had some great frites they did in duck fat. Was owned by a couple from Rome who were second generation. Family wasn't there long enough to forget how to prepare a meal. Very nice place. I will have to see if it is still there.
It seems the local monarchy has taxed hardworking folks like that out of business. Be nice if they had a more democratic way of deciding who pays for the infrastructure.

I have just had several of the best meals of my life in London.
Try Medlar, the Harwood Arms, Pierre Koffman, Bistro Bruno Loubet. Didn't have Italian this time but Buca di Lupo was good last time.
You can't rent a boat on the Thames in London. Private river craft are not allowed.
You can do a search here for apartment rentals in London; they have been discussed at great length.
There are Starbucks everywhere, as well as dozens of other coffee chains. You can't miss a coffee chain.

Buca di Lupo sounds good...Also heard good things about Luna Nuova. Be nice if they had a vodka list online. Londoners probably stay satisfied with whatever's cheapest though.

I gotta say, the whole bedbug problem has me concerned. Do they fumigate? Is that even an option?
Sad about boat rentals...Someone owns the boats, I could rent from a private individual for the right price I suppose? I can go bigger..
BTW - I have had good fish and chips. Most you couldn't tell the difference from McDonalds however. I should say fish was good, fries were always a bit soft. None were hardly worth the money.

LOL!! God forbid I would have a decent French meal..You would never know if you had frog in the UK. It all looks the same once you grind it up with oats and boil it for two weeks in the stomach of an unfortunate barnyard friend.
I just want to be careful where I eat. According to the latest news it sounds like most of the good steaks are the result of the losing polo team. I've eaten donkey in the Mediterranean and it was fantastic with an adequate wine paring. However, I don't want to pay a small fortune for "steak" that has been under the Duke of "SomeChesters" sweaty butt while he's trying to impress the Dutchess of Gross over Bight.
As for the snails: in the UK they crawl on every rock wall. Definitely don't want welks on my dinner plate. Especially on a hot bed of laver bread.
The war is over people, you now have permission to eat food raised above ground.
