Budget Barbados accommodations
I am going back to Barbados and looking for a less expensive place to stay. I'm currently unemployed, so trying to keep it affordable but still comfortable. It will be my husband & I, 5 days probably. Last time we stayed in a great apartment in the Gap and the location was convenient for us, we enjoyed having both living & bed rooms + a kitchen. There was a pool, it overlooked the ocean & noise from the bars wasn't noticeable. It is available again for $220 (low season rate, tax included) but looking at some of the hotels in the area, it seems I could get something comparable for $50-75 less a night. Anyone have any suggestions? Wifi, pool, kitchenette desirable. We will have a car so a great beach isn't necessary (but should have water views). Blue Orchids Beach Hotel was one that looked good. Anyone stayed there recently? South Gap was another but some reviews mentioned noise from the karaoke bar. Also looked at Rostrevor. Any input appreciated.

Rostrevor is an excellent hotel service and com for wise. Not sure of the rates though it depends on which time of the year you intend to travel. Their website would have more information on any specials. The lower rates for accommodation on Barbados would be during the low-season May through to October.
I know a few people who've been visiting Barbados for years and refuse to stay anywhere else other than Rostrevor Hotel.

go on homeaway.com and consider renting directly from an owner. all price points...all locations....it sounds like a modest, clean, safe apartment would suit you. you can cook some meals if you like, purchasing fresh produce and fish from the local vendors.
i stayed at the hilton....rented a small apartment in speightstown on the beach for 150 us dollars a night...lovely and clean....and now am at a cute one bedroom villa in holetown for 100 a night...small....but right in the thick of things. homeaway is a great site. good luck.

I had friends come to visit me and stay in Crystal Court. It is quite far from the beach (but a cheap taxi $10 range) but it is a well appointed place and has a pool and tennis court along with a security gate. They had two bedrooms, cable, internet etc. If you are okay with being further from the ebach to save money, I would recommend

- Water tank (in the event that the water goes off)
- Burglar bars with one (1) escape window
- Washer/dryer
- Fully equipped kitchen
