Universal Studios vs Knott's Berry Farm vs Legoland vs Six Flags

Hi all-
My husband and I will be visiting Los Angeles and possibly San Diego next week with 2 boys (ages 6 1/2 and almost 9). Which amusement park(s) in these areas would be best for this age?

They are adventurous and definitely like some thrill rides, but the youngest is not quite 48" so I don't want a park of only thrill rides. My concern is that Legoland will be too 'young' and Six Flags too 'old' for them. Not sure about Universal and Knott's Berry.

Please give me your thoughts on which of these would be the best for their ages. We have done DisneyWorld the last 2 years, so we are thinking we want to do something besides Disneyland this time.

Thanks for your help!!!

Legoland -- you're right, too young for your kids unless they REALLY love the Lego{R} brand.
Six Flags -- hard to say, it's mostly thrill rides (these are the big money makers) but there are also rides for youngsters.
Universal Studios -- a lot of thrill rides as well. Everything is tied to a Universal product, so it can be great IF your kids have some show or movie that turns them on.
Knotts Berry Farm - might be a good compromise, as this park is very family friendly.

I strongly recommend you check out the URL for each place, as they all describe in GREAT detail each and every ride and attraction. Only you and your kids can determine which place has the attractions that will excite your kids -- and you!
For the record, my favorite event in Universal Florida, when I visited there at age 55, was meeting The Cat in the Hat -- main character of the FIRST BOOK I ever read by myself!

Knott's Berry Farm may be the best bet IMHO
