Grand Canyon - Thunderbird Lodge Construction?
I just made reservations for April 2012 at the Thunderbird lodge. On the park website the pictures show that Thunderbird Lodge is much more dated looking that the Katchina lodge. The resv's agent said that the Thunderbird just completed a remodel and is now as updated as the Katchina. Some of the recent lodge reviews don't sound that way and even said the construction completely blocked their view (which you pay extra for) and was noisy. I will switch to a non view room at the Katchina if that is the case.
If anyone can shead some light on the situation that would be great!

Make reservations for both and cancel one later.
Based on what I'm seeing on TripAdvisor, the construction/renovation is ongoing. So perhaps the reservation agent meant that the remodel will be done before April of next year?
For me personally, I wouldn't pay that much money to have a room on the rim/ I don't want to look out a window to have a partial view of the Grand Canyon, I want to be outside and see the views. But that is just my opinion, you can certainly stay there if you want but I wouldn't expect an amazing room or a spectacular view. It sounds like most of the rooms are only partial views.

Ignore the post from calv, that is clearly spam/advertising. If you truly want great rates you would book directly with Xanterra, not a 3rd party website - never mind the fact that most people consider the train to be a big tourist trap and waste of money.
