Field Station Dino: Secaucus New Jersey

Has anyone been to the new Field Station Dino outdoor exhibit in NJ ? How was it ? Are there bathrooms avialable ? We are thinking of taking the ride from Long Island. Possibibly staying over night. Is there a hotel in walking distance? Restuarants? We are a family of 5, including 3 kids (7, 5 and 1 years old). plus a few extra adults.

By the ride I guess you mean the train? If you look at Google maps there are a Candlewood Suites hotel on the north side of the train station.

According to some reviews here
http://www.yelp.com/biz/field-statio...saurs-secaucus
the bathrooms are port-a-potties.

Sounds like it's not ready for prime time.

You should definitely go to Field Station: Dinosaurs! I took my seven-year-old budding paleontologist and she LOVED it. There were 31 life-sized dinosaurs including three different T-Rexes and a 90-foot argentinosaurus which I understand is the largest animatronic dinosaur ever created. There’s a dig pit, games like dinosaur feud (it’s like Family Feud but with dinosaur facts) and two puppet shows with a 15-foot T-Rex that interacts with kids and looks very real. There’s food and bathrooms on the site and it is very easy to get to—we went by car—it’s right off the NJ Turnpike’s Exit 15X, but friends from the city met us there by taking the train from Penn Station to the Secaucus Junction Train Station—it was about a 10 minute ride and then there is a free shuttle to the park which is about ¼ mile from the train station if you wanted to walk. If you want to stay overnight, we went to the web site at www.fieldstationdinosaurs.com and clicked on Plan Your Trip then Local Attractions and got to the Meadowlands Liberty CVB web site which showed us options for staying overnight as well as where to eat and other stuff to do near the park. We had a GREAT weekend.
