Dinner options in Varenna or Menaggio?

Which town has better restaurants for dinner - Varenna or Menaggio?

I like Varenna. Nice, fairly quiet town on the lake.

Try this webssite.

Ristorante il Cavatappi in Varenna and Bilacus in Bellagio, but there are many others in both towns. I haven't found a restaurant in Menaggio worth remembering.

When choosing a restaurant for dinner, make sure you know when the last ferry leaves so you can get back to where you're staying.

Thanks very much! We're trying to choose between Bellavista in Menaggio or Hotel Olivedo in Varenna - based on dinner options in each town given the ferry situation.

(I know there are other nicer hotels in each town but we're planning late and found no other availability....)

I agree with Bob - stay in Bellagio.
