Anyone taken a small ship (boat?) cruise in Croatia?

If so, what line did you use, what agency? And, of course, what was your experience like and cost?

By small I mean less than 100 passengers. ( I also put this question in the "Cruises" section. Hope to get some response.)

If all you want is a day trip, we had a magical visit from Dubrovnik to Cavtat by boat. I don't think there is a whole lot to choose other than different schedules among the many boats in the harbor. The magic was a multi-course, three hour luncheon under the trees. The voyage was merely interesting.

Ackislander - I was thinking more of a 7 day cruise, not a day cruise, although your experience sounds wonderful. Do you remember which boat you took? What time of the year did you go? What was the weather like?

There are several agencies to choose from , www.katarina-line.com is one I like, they are well established and offer plenty of options at different locations.

I will be watching the responses you get - I think this would be a great trip although I'm not sure that small of ship is in my budget. There is a company OAT that I think does some cruises in this area and then some of the mainstream lines have Adriatic cruises (Celebrity). But it would be very nice to explore the area slowly on a small ship.

We took a week long cruise to Croatia out of Venice, docked in Dorsoduro on the Zattere,70 passengers. It was named "The Monet." I've heard it has gone out of business but not sure. Wonderful itinerary, islands and cities. It was arranged by our college's alumni office and we traveled with our own professors.

suec - I believe Iooked up OaAT but they seem to only go to this region in February - a time when most restaurants, etc are closed. I've also heard it can be pretty cold.

Happy Trvir - I have seen cruises out of Venice, but I've been there and really wouldn't want to spend time getting from there to Croatia (although not too far away), and just start the cruise in Croatia.

Little Vicky - Have you or someone you know used this agency?

Last summer i did a 7 night sailing trip with islandhopper.com. It's actually a bike & sail trip. So you basically get off the boat and 2 tour guides lead you up/down/around the islands and a few stops on the main land. The ship had 30 people + crew. It was one of my best trips ever. Great way to see and enjoy Croatia.

We are doing an OAT cruise along the Dalmatian Coast from Croatia to Greece in September/October with OAT on a 50 passenger ship.

mirsy - Will look up the OAT cruise. Don't think we would want to go as far as Greece, unless it's a long cruise and good rate.

Will also check out islandhopper.com.

Thanks.

I did a cruise down the Dalmatian Coast last year with about 220 passengers. We started in Venice and cruised overnight to Croatia. I really enjoyed it, but that is probably larger than you want.

I have used Katarina Line for a fishing trip and a visit to Plitvice, I also know people who have used them.

Last my wife and I took the "Atlantia", an 11 passenger Gullet up the coast for 7 days. It was a wonderful experience. Good food very good crew. We had fellow passengers from France and Australia. I would highly recommend this trip. If you are concerned about who your ship mates will be you can charter the entire boat.
