There aren't a great deal of accommodations on the Jordan side but the Movenpick and Kempinski are lovely and there is also one of the RSCN guesthouse's on that side, also nice but more bare bones with a shared bathroom but all was immaculate and the setting was private and beautiful. I can't comment on the Israeli side.

After three days in Wadi Rum, we had a very nice and relaxing one night stay at the Marriott property next to Movenpick. We were ungraded at check-in to a pool view. Very hospitable staff. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset (mostly Jordanian families) at the outside Oasis bar. We staked a spot at the lower adult only pool after buffet breakfast around 9:30a (fyi - many chairs were already reserved with towels) and camped out until 3:00p - a glorious weather day with a visit down the path to the Dead Sea. Checked out late so moved our bags to the car and used the hot showers in the lower bathrooms near the pool - could not have worked out better.

We stopped for a dip at the hotel complex on the Jordan side, on the way back from Petra to Amman to catch our flight. The hotels there offer a daytime visitor option, so you do not need to stay there. How long do you plan to float? An hour of playing in the water, taking pictures with a waterproof camera, and doing the mud-coating thing was more than enough for us. Bring plastic flip-flops unless you have hardy feet, there is as much pebbles as sand, and it can get very hot in the sun.
