A day out to Coventry and Kenilworth Castle

Not on the usual tourist path, but if anyone is interested I've written up our day out to Kenilworth and Coventry. Photos as usual.

Nice blog. In case others are interested, Kenilworth and Coventry make a reasonable day trip from London. I did it in 2010. Train from London Marylebone to Leamington Spa, Stagecoach X17 bus to Kenilworth. After visiting castle, X17 to Coventry, then train back to London Euston.

Thanks for the great work on the picture captioning. (Oh, and your pictures are good in and of themselves--I especially liked the ones of all the statues and art this time.) You make such a nice mix of funny/important family details ("send him to knight school") and the history of what you are seeing. I look forward to a treat when I see your name on a post these days! The only problem is--you're adding too many places to my "wanna go there" list! Again, brilliant!

Agree with Texasbw, you are adding too many places I want to go. I love that you and your family are taking advantage of your time in England to visit so many places. It is easy when one is living in a place to take it for granted and just settle into the logistics of life. I love your stories and pictures. Really liked that phrase "eyewatering price". It says it all.

Have fun on your trip to the Netherlands next week.

And once again, many thanks!

Thanks for the comments. It encourages me to post.

We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to live here. In addition to the longer, school-timed holidays/vacations we try to get out and do "something" on one weekend day (we need the other to prep for the week -- we are working/schooling/living here).

My hobbies are pretty much:
a) travel planning
b) travel
c) travel blogging

Wonderful post & pictures! I envy your being able to see so many historic places! We have wanted to live in the UK for some time, for just this reason (and that I have family between L'pool & Manchester).

I re-registered on Fodors after a long absence (different name) so I could thank indy_dad for these pics! I was born in Coventry and grew up in Kenilworth... I'm glad others are discovering these places and enjoying them!
