Which venues in Rome, Florence and Venice are advance tickets really needed

We'll be visiting Rome, Florence and Venice. Which admission tickets should we absolutely buy before arriving?

You might try googling a couple of Fodors recommended sites for a start on your answer.

Here's the first one for Rome... http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/MV_Home.html

You don't say when you are going, but at most temperate or summer times, I would say Uffizi and Academmia in Florence for certain, though you can get timed admission ticket from vendors for a fee.

Definitely the Borghese Gallery. We missed our opportunity by waiting too long to buy tickets.
I'd try to book the Scavi tour first and then try to book Borghese because tickets for the Scavi Tour are so limited.

Believe the week after Easter is Cultural Week and most of the museums are free. Imagine the lines for that.

Thanks - I'm going at the end of May so things will probably be busy.

From what you've said I'll try to plan days/times to the level where I can pre-book tickets.

The Borghese and The Scavi Tour in Rome. Ufizzi and Accademia in Florence, you may also want to book the Brancacci Chapel there just to be 100% sure of entry and the Doge's palace secret tour in Venice. The latter is well worth doing. Totally fascinating and detailed.
