First RV road trip from NY to FL.. any suggestions?

HI
Im looking to take my family, ages 3-5 , on a road trip to florida this OCT and was wondering if anyone has some suggestions for day trips along the way , as well as best family friendly camp sites that you have been to.
Any other helpful suggestions are welcome,
Thank you

I can't help with campsites. Consider stopping in DC. The Outer Banks of NC are nice, but they may still be cleaning up after Irene. The NC Zoo in Asheboro would be fun for the children.

Not sure how big this RV is - but if you're want to see any of the major cities you will need to find a place to park it that has easy access to decent public transit into the city. Suggest you reserve in advance to be sure you're not stuck someplace inconvenient.

What part of NY are you leaving from? It might be more pleasant and not much farther to go west to 81 south to 77 then pick up 26 near Columbia SC then down to 95. We found this a much more pleasant way to go than down 95 all the way, unless you want to deal with or stop at the cities along the way.

Myrtle Beach has several oceanfront campgrounds. October will still be great beach weather at MB. I am not experienced, so you will have to research the right one on your own.

Disney has Fort Wilderness RV facility that should be a tremendous hit with a 3 and 5 year old.

Florida has an excellent state park system that is very popular and in demand. The park system's web site is comprehensive. You should consider the state parks along your route and make reservations early if you intent to camp.

When we camped with our children, we always bought them their own flashlight for the trip. They loved to have their own flashlight and walk around the campsite in the dark. They loved the campfire--we had child sized chairs for the campfire. We also used to take a folding child's picnic table because they were too little to sit at the picnic table outside, but since you have an RV, you may be eating indoors.
