Has anyone used Africian travel rescource to plan a safari?

My husband and I turn 60 this year and are rewarding ourselves with a safari to Tanzania. This is our tripi of a life time and we want to be sure we are using a reliable company. So far they have been great but we haven't gone yet. It is a long leap between nice telephone conversations and the trip of a lifetime. Would love to hear from any one who traveled with them or has advise for us.

IMHO ATR is a great resource, but their data is far from complete.

... and they do tend to push some properties (lodges/camps) over others!

I just used them to plan our Feb 2012 trip to Tanzania. Obviously we haven't gone on the trip yet, so can't speak about the experience. I did find them to be very responsive and proactive. Also, Sandi is right, they do tend to push certain lodges and seem to be biased against others, but in the end always followed our preference. One thing I found to be different than all the other operators we contacted was that they provided remarkable details about every day, and breakdown of costs. That was quite helpful.

As time is growing short we probally can't change direction altogether but will see if I can use yor input to try and get the best guide possible and a clean vechicle. Actually wish I would have found the forum sooner. I will keep you all informed.
