My wife and I are thinking of going to Bermuda for 3 or 4 days in July. We travel a lot but have never been before. We'd like to go just for a quick get-away vacation, relaxation, good food, some sight seeing. We hope the experienced folks here can recommend some places to stay, eat, drink,. things to see and do. Our budget for hotel is $150 - $200/night.

We're late 30s, like to have fun, mix and mingle with other folks, are interested in history and art and are also looking forward to sitting on a beautiful beach and recharging a bit.

Since this will be our first time we'd appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Thanks!

I'd be shocked if you can get a hotel for less than 350/night during the summer. You might look at a private apt rental to find something to fit your budget - search for some of the Bermuda threads recently - cmcfong posts about some great rental options, I'll try to find them and top them for you.

If your hotel budget can be increased, your biggest options for beachfront are Elbow Beach (pricey, main house shut down for renovations, only cottages being rented right now) Fairmont Southampton (golf and beach, but share facilities with the Fairmont Princess in Hamilton, more resort-feel, family oriented), The Reefs (more adult-oriented, fabulous, my fave, where we got married, but starting to get further away from town and action) Pompano and Cambridge Beaches are nice, but way out from town. In town, look at the Fairmont Princess, Rosedon or Royal Palms. If you want a basic room, pool, in town, look at the Rosemont -that's where we put the in-laws when they came to visit. No frills but friendly and the kitchens saved tons on dining out. Grotto Bay's biggest con is the out-of-the-way location (and tiny, harbor-front beach, not ocean-front)

There are cheaper options, but you'll be sacrificing comfort and location, and spending time and money getting to town and to the beach.

I lived there for years and we just came home yesterday after a return visit - happy to help you get the most out of a beautiful place!

BTW, the Wyndham that qwovadis mentioned above has been bulldozed for YEARS.

Bermuda is a clean, beautiful island with gorgeous beaches, the best of which are free and public. Plan to stay off the beach to get the best prices. As txgirlinbda says your budget will limit your hotel options. Be very careful if you do find a hotel which brings you in under that amount as there is likely a resort fee which can quickly mount up. I mention this specifically because the Fairmont is running some sales, but you want to ask for all the numbers (service, tax and resort fees) in calculating what your lodging expense will be.
Try the listings on www.bermudarentals.com and www.bermudagetaway.com Many of the properties are reviewed on Trip Advisor. These rentals represent a substantial savings over the hotel prices and are every bit as lovely, but without the bells and whistles the hotels offer.
There are several good threads here about dining and activity options. Take a look at them and see if there is something about which you would like to know more.

Thanks so much for all the terrific suggestions. I didn't quite realize how much lodging was going to be before I posted my note yesterday. We can certainly spend more. Our top priority for this trip is ease, fun, luxury.

I will track down the suggestions and links and will probably have more questions in a bit.

Yea bermuda is an expensive place to stay you could look into other islands which would be cheaper to stay unless ur heart is set on bermuda

Take a look at Clairfont Apartments in Bermuda. They might work very well for you. Don't be put off by high priced hotels, there are other options.

Loved Pompano Beach Club. I think it would be perfect for a 3-4 day getaway. It is secluded/ romantic. Beautiful dining balcony too.

My favorite for adults is The Reefs. It is right on the bus line to town or you can take the ferry from the Fairmont. I also like the Southampton Fairmont for being more of a resort hotel feel. They sometimes run specials. You can join their Presidents club.
I don't think you are going to get cheap in Bermuda. It is a pricey island for both sleeping and eating. It is worth the trip as it is very beautiful.
