Varenna train station

I am looking into the option of taking a train from Malpensa to Varenna using LeNord. However, I am unable to find the name of the station in Varenna. Does anyone know the name of the station in Varenna, or any info that would be helpful? Thanks!

LeNord train goes to a Como city station (Como Lago). Trenitalia train goes to Varenna.

The actual station name in Varenna (on the Trenitalia/Ferrovie dello Stato system) is Varenna-Esino.

I took the train from Milano Centrale to Varrena years ago. Trains were infrequent (so be sure you have the schedule inadvance) and no ticket window at the tiny station. Nice flower garden though!

Have fun

I have been trying to find a train going directly from Malpensa to Varenna-Esino on Trenitalia's website, but I am not having success... How should I go about purchasing tickets for this segment of my trip? Should I do it when I arrive at Malpensa? Will I have to take a train from Malpensa to Milan Centrale and then continue on another train to Varenna?

You can easily WAIT until you GET to Milan for these connections.

The trains from Milan to Varenna(-Esino) are all regionals and carry mostly second class coaches; there is no eed to buy a First Class ticket. They run about every two hours orso and the tirp takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I guess for some people that counts as "infrequently').

Yes, you will have to go to Milano central first (although you could take a train to the city of Como and THEN take one of the ferries to Varenna).

Sit on the left side of the train (facing forward) for the best lake vies which begin at Lecco.

Unless things have changed, the station at Varenna-Esino is unmanned and has only ticket machines; you can, however, get Trenitalia tickets at the local travel agency.
