Quebec City/Tadoussac in April

Quebec City/Tadoussac in April
We are planning on returning to Quebec City to celebrate our 25th anniversary in April. We would like to first drive up the St Lawrence to Tadoussac for a two night stay. I wonder if April would be a good time. We don’t mind the cold as we prefer cooler temperatures, but will any B&B’s be open in Tadoussac? Any recommendations as to where to stay in Tadoussac? I believe it’s about 3 hours from Quebec City to Tacoussac, is this correct? Are there any other recommended towns to see on the St. Lawrence other than Tacoussac? Thank you for responding.

I think you are in for a treat. Not sure what its like in April (might be chilly) but the Charlevoix region was a delightful surprise to us when we were there in July. Le Malbaie was an amazing spot with great accommodations and restaurants and we enjoyed the local cheese makers and bakeries in the area. L'Isle Aux Coudres was nice too but may be more suited to the summer months for biking.

The Charlevoix area is very scenic and unique. There are many nice small towns along the water. Baie-Saint-Paul is the biggest, with many restaurants, shops, galleries, etc. Tadoussac is a charming little beach side community, even though the water there is icy cold, even in mid summer. There is a lookout in town where you can spot whales out in the St. Lawrence, so bring your binoculars. I suspect April would be quite cool, with some fog. If I remember correctly, it is about 3 hours or so from QC. There is a ferry crossing en route (free).
