"best" is very subjective. Here are some of the very best, IMHO. In no particular order, Mizuna, Luca d'Italia, Panzano, Rioja, Highland Garden Cafe, Mels, Deluxe, Sushi Den.
Things to do with out-of-towners--visit the new wing of the art museum, go to Red Rocks, visit the Botanic Gardens, shap at Cherry Creek Mall and Cherry Creek North, drive to Evergreen up Bear Creek Canyon, drive to the top of Mt. Evans. Go to Boulder and eat at Frasca.

If money is no object and you're looking to impress your guests, then take them to the Capital Grille in Larimer Square. Outstanding steak and the best service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. One tiny notch below that would be Elway's outside the Cherry Creek Mall. Since Denver is a cowtown, you really can't go wrong with a steakhouse here!

We love Vesta Dipping Grill on Blake Street. We have gone there for a birthday and an anniversary and if you tell the person on the phone that it is a special occasion, they take care of the rest. The service is outstanding and the food is fantastic, both taste and presentation.
As for things we like to do with visitors, Red Rocks is beautiful and we like to drive up toward Idaho Springs and look at the mountains, many overlooks, etc. Have fun!
