First Trip - go all out?
Planning a semi-honeymoon but more importantly, just a nice relaxing getaway, roughly 2 weeks. Now, my question is, do we spend up and go far, possibly the Maldives or do we stay a little closer to home and spend a little less, possibly St. John or St. Lucia? This will be the first real trip for the both of us so I'm sure that either will be fine but ever since I began researching the Maldives...I'm hooked. Your comments/opinions are appreciated.

If you have no kids I would go to the Maldives hands down! Everyone I know that has been to the maldives raves about their trip. I need to wait until my kids are gone. Do it before you have to wait!!
St. Lucia has a wonderful adult splurge as well. I looked into it for my family. they strongly urged no kids. Again we wait.
I went to St. John on my honeymoon. It was wonderful! Just perfect, however, it is also kid friendly. My choice would be the places that are not kid friendly now and go to the others later!!

LvSun- The Maldives are in Southern Asia, a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean southwest of India.
GreenLantern- For me if I wanted a romantic and relaxing getaway, I would not choose to have so much plane travel involved. Not knowing your home location it's hard to say for sure, but the first thing I'd recommend you do is research how many hours of plane time, time changes, available flights and necessary connections, prices, etc. to get there.
I have friends who love the Maldives but they are traveling from Europe, so closer for them than the US/Canada. With only two weeks, were I in your shoes I'd probably pick someplace in the Caribbean or Mexico.
