Is it worth going to Nevis this August ?

We have an opportunity to visit FS Nevis next week and was just wondering if it would be a washout with rain? Also, is it too hot to sit outside at night? Anyone with August experiences would be appreciated. Thanks! June

We stayed at the FS Nevis in August of 2003. Basically perfect weather the entire week-- warm, but it was August, after all. Rained at night, as I recall. We comfortably sat outside at night. Nice place-- do enjoy.

It's hard to accurately predict the weather but in August you can generally expect daytime temperatures to be in the mid-to-high 80's F. Humidity is high so the THI makes it feel like it's in the 90's. Evening temps will be about 5 to 10 degrees cooler depending on the amount of breeze. It will be cooler on the mountainside that it is on the beach. You should ecounter mostly sunny skies (FYI - there's been a big dust cloud from the Sahara hanging over the Caribbean lately so the horizons and sunsets might be a bit obscured during your visit) with occasional passing or widely scattered showers (usually lasting anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes). The showers are more prevelant in the late afternoons or evenings rather than in the morning or at mid-day. Of course, if a tropical front passes through the Leeward Islands (nothing on the radar screens just yet) you could get prolonged periods of rain. Finally, August is hurricane season so there is always that risk on any of the Leeward islands but, here again, there's nothing showing up right now that would affect Nevis.

Nevis is always worth visiting. As with any island, showers tend to blow over quickly. I don't know where you are coming from now, but we were there in June and the temp was more comfortable there than at home. It was warm, but not awful. If you do sit out, take bug spray!!

If you have the opportunity to go to the Four Seasons next week take it!!

Nevis is a beautiful, quiet, unspoilt island. Lots of friendly and helpful locals.

You can take a day trip to sister island of St. Kitts.
